“ Today this is hegemonism, an obsession with dominance, a real obsession, a painful pseudo-messianic idea of one’s own mission,” she said during the session “Polycentricity as the norm of a future world without colonies and hegemons.”
According to a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, a person and the state cannot declare themselves as missionaries and a mission with an already appropriate assessment. In this regard, the diplomat said that no one shares the current worldview of the dominant West.
“No one shares this, and those who sometimes periodically publicly support this, this is done under wild pressure,” Zakharova added.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov previously stated that the West is obsessed with maintaining its hegemony in the international arena, implementing and perpetuating its rules. He clarified that this trend is manifested in various spheres of international life, for example, in the West’s attitude to the work of integration structures in the post-Soviet space.
Also on the sidelines of SPIEF, Zakharova warned that Russia would respond to Washington’s statements about increasing its nuclear arsenal in accordance with its nuclear doctrine. The diplomat noted that the United States should announce such things in connection with its national interests, and not based on the momentary political information situation.
