Hit ‘em back harder. [IsraelTimes] Jewish students’ names were omitted from page while photo of them was replaced with picture of a group of Muslim students; East Brunswick mayor denounces ‘blatant antisemitic act’A New Jersey school district has hired an outside law firm to investigate how and why a Jewish student group was erased from the high school yearbook, with the members’ names omitted from the page and their photo replaced with a picture of a group of Moslem students. Was it done by Moslems or by Hamas supporters/Jew-haters? An individual sneaking around the rules, a group ditto, or with the connivance of the yearbook staff advisor? East Brunswick Public Schools said the independent review by Brisman Law began Friday and will seek to determine who was responsible, as well as whether it was malicious or a mistake."I’m confident the independent counsel investigation will reveal the truth," Superintendent Victor Valeski said. "They’ve been given complete authority to investigate whatever they need to investigate." The superintendent apologized previously for "the hurt, pain and anguish this event has caused our Jewish students" and offered a separate apology to Moslem students. In a statement, East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen called it a "blatant antisemitic act" and said the probe should consider whether it was a hate crime worthy of prosecution. "Hate has no place in East Brunswick and antisemitism will not be tolerated," he said. The New Jersey office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations ![]() called for a "transparent and fair investigation." The yearbook incident "has triggered heinous backlash against some Moslem students who had no knowledge of their photo being misused," spokesperson Aya Elamroussi said in a statement. The situation came to light Tuesday after about 375 yearbooks were distributed at East Brunswick High. Valeski said a new photo of the Jewish Student Union was taken this week and will be included, along with the members’ names, in corrected versions of the yearbook that will be distributed next week. Discipline could be warranted depending on the outcome of the probe, and a corrective plan will be developed for the yearbook, Valeski said. "There’s absolutely no way it should have happened," he said. "I believe that this was really a lack of quality control, a lack of oversight."

#5 Talked to a couple of folks who'd done high school yearbook editor work. That's the student. From what they say, once the editor and advisor sign off, so to speak, the next step is to the printer quickly. There is no legitimate access, nor very much room at all for non-legit access, to the product from there to the printer. The guess is it happened upstream, so to speak, and got past the editor and advisor who either weren't paying attention or were complicit. Might be something else but that's the way to bet. |

#4 The principal of the school and the superintendent should be fire forthwith. |

#3 Even when someone else is the victim, the Moslems just have to jump in to cry about "backlash" aimed at them. If they don't want to have backlash, don't be behind the actions that cause it in the first place. |

#2 Like every other aspect of gummint schools, it has nothing to do with students anymore. |

#1 Used to be the yearbook was an extracurricular project for students ,with an advisor. Somebody in the right place as it's completed and sent to the printer could do this. Would take planning to do this after the advisor signs off and before it is sent. |
