Harvard University will no longer weigh in on outside public matters: ‘Runs the risk of alienating some'
2024-05-29
[NY Post] "We lost our ass for virtue signaling"
Harvard University announced Tuesday that it will stay silent on public matters that do not directly concern its "core function" — months after the Ivy League school’s statements on the Israel-Hamas war caused a firestorm of controversy.

Leaders at the prestigious school who recommended the new policy said that Harvard "runs the risk of appearing to care more about some places and events than others" by issuing public statements on sweeping issues and global politics.

"And because few, if any, world events can be entirely isolated from conflicting viewpoints, issuing official empathy statements runs the risk of alienating some members of the community by expressing implicit solidarity with others," Harvard’s Institutional Voice Working Group recommended in a report.

#12  Eye wash. Will most likely be business as usual though with regards to how they operate. No changes to how administration, staff or professors view or implement policies/procedures.

"We, the University, will just keep quiet about it 'officially' and let the students do the screeching with our help and direction."

#11  Controversial = the progressive take on anything, which any normal person will naturally be offended by.

"EVEN A FLATWORM IS SMART ENOUGH TO TURN AWAY FROM PAIN: Harvard won’t take official stance on controversial issues under new policy: No more ‘official statements about public matters that do not directly affect the university,’ president says." Quoted from an Instapundit post this day 29 May 2024. Maybe the professor reads Rantburg.

Any School or College Facility should have 1 mission.... TEACH.

There is no going back. The Student Body's ANTI-JEWISH, genocidal statements and protests have been made, and recorded for history.

Plus, going forward. Likely, many employer's HR departments will be on the lookout to avoid certain Ivy League grads for certain years, and the corresponding years of college faculty also.

Because why would any employer want to risk being known to have hired a Racist, genocidal supporting person to work for them?

In short, those arrested and those that ran to the Media for their 15 mins of fame and attentions, have screwed-up the pooch and their careers.

Either way, I see it taking a couple of years before big corporate donors will consider it safe to associate and donate, with any College that openly supported the Genocidal HAMAS.

It appears that even this worm can learn to shy away from pain.
