And there goes Ohio |
2024-05-24 |
[AmericaTribune] In a potentially big snafu for the Democratic Party in Ohio and nationally in the 2024 presidential race, the Democratic National Convention has been scheduled for August 19, twelve days after the August 7 deadline in Ohio for submitting the name of the nominee. The Ohio House and Senate attempted to pass legislation to rectify the issue, but that effort failed on Wednesday, May 8, before the deadline Ohio lawmakers were given by the Secretary of State to rectify the issue. Now, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose has said Biden won't appear on the ballot unless the DNC acts. #13 Ohio is weird for write ins. You have to submit signatures to get on the valid write in list. An extra bubble is then added to the ballot. To vote a write in you, you have to color in the bubble and then write the valid name correctly. |

#12 I imagine Democratic voters can all write in Joe Biden if his name isn’t printed on the ballot, though it is extra effort. |

#10 as they would do to the GOP Exactly. Instead we will get "That's not who we are," otherwise phrased "We're losers" |

#9 I think the Ohio legislature is run by Dems like Texas is. Trailing Wife may have better insight. My first beef with him was when I realized that Ohio had a similar COVID policy for assisted living facilities like NY implemented. |

#8 He's ordered a special session to force the legislature to virtue signal he's a nice guy. FUCK him. Don't do it. Let the Dems wallow in their incompetence, as they would do to the GOP |

#5 Alabama had the same issue but their legislators fixed it and got Biden on the ballet. Not that Biden is in any sort of distance to win Alabama but at least they can show a good sport game of it. |

#4 That may well be, but if he's not on the ballot it would come down to a write in campaign such as has never been seen. |

#3 "Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector." - Article II, Section 1, Clause 2 You are not voting for Biden or Trump but electors. |

#2 Well, the dems were very cool with this idea when applied to Trump. |
