[Regnum] Exactly ten years ago, on May 11, 2014, referendums on self-determination were held in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. In the DPR, with a turnout of almost 75%, more than 89% of those who voted were in favor of independence - this is what the Donetsk Central Election Commission reported the day after the plebiscite. Information came from Lugansk about 94% of those who voted for the LPR. One of the then top officials of the DPR, Boris Litvinov, who oversaw the work of the Central Election Commission in the government of the republic, called the vote a prerequisite for a “civilized divorce” of Donbass from Kiev.
