[KavkazUzel] The court in Essentuki placed in custody two traffic police officers in Kabardino-Balkaria, Mukhamed Khanikov and Musa Kanukoev, suspected of systematically accepting bribes from truck drivers at the Urukh weight control post in North Ossetia.According to the investigation, two traffic police inspectors for Kabardino-Balkaria Mukhamed Khanikov and Musa Kanukoev, deputy head of the territorial department of Rostransnadzor for the North Caucasus Federal District Murad Makiev, two of his subordinates Alexander Khamatov and Oleg Kibirov, as well as three more civilians Yuri Alborov, Levan Makiev and Khasb Khachetlov were included into a criminal group whose goal was to systematically receive bribes from truck drivers passing the Urukh weigh control post in North Ossetia. Cars were allowed through for bribes without checks, even in the presence of obvious violations.
All eight are charged with Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ( “Receipt of a bribe by a group of persons”, provides for up to 12 years in prison - note of the "Caucasian Knot" ). The investigation believes that the criminal group was created by the deputy head of the territorial department of Rostransnadzor for the North Caucasus Federal District, Murad Makiev, Sledkom reported on April 17 on its website.
The investigation petitioned the Essentuki City Court to arrest two traffic police inspectors for Kabardino-Balkaria and two employees of Rostransnadzor. “One suspect was detained for two months, three others for one month and 30 days,” Interfax quoted the court’s press service as saying on April 17.
There were no comments from representatives of the suspects.
The "Caucasian Knot" also wrote that on August 9, 2023, a police investigator was detained in Nalchik for accepting a large bribe. On July 19, 2022, it became known that the head of the migration department was suspected of extorting a bribe of 100 thousand rubles.
