With Iraq on his mind, US ‘savior-general’ Petraeus points at a way to victory in Gaza
2024-03-18
[IsraelTimes] Hamas
...one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,...
must be destroyed, argues ex-general and CIA director David Petraeus in Tel Aviv, and then Israel must pivot to a counterinsurgency.

As the campaign to eliminate Hamas stretches into its sixth month, a storied American general credited with changing the course of the Iraq War now sees a clear path to victory for Israel in Gazoo

#14  The only victory will be to remove all Palestinians from Gaza. Otherwise it is damping down the fires of hate for a while. No victories, only casualties.

#13  #8 No skid, the common factor - as Tex suggested - is the asylum for criminally insane on the Potomac.

#12  Another point is how well Petraeus' brilliant Iraq strategy worked out.

#11  Imagine some ‘supremacists’ would do that to your community.

They're call environmentalists and climate activists in this country, and often government bureaucrats.

#8  Is there a common factor?

Well, Israel is about 8000 sq miles, the size of Massachusetts.

US battles are fought on a global, not neighborhood scale.

I would say the common factor is logistics.
Oh, and the US is providing supplies to everyone.

#5  The common factor in "winning but loosing" is because we have leaders that decide winning would look bad. So they piss in the punch bowl.

#3  USA wins most of the battles - but always loses the war.

Israel always wins the wars, otherwise we wouldn't exist - but always loses the subsequent peace process.

Is there a common factor?

#1  "The foundational concepts of counterinsurgency are that you clear an area, you hold it, and you hold it in a very significant manner"

Worked well for the Green Zone.
