USDA whistleblower says Biden administration's telework policies are 'impersonal and inefficient' and hamper productivity as taxpayer-paid employees are often unreachable for HOURS and ignore 'simple' email questions
2024-02-29
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] So much for the promise of a prompt refund.
  • Full-time remote work and telework is 'negatively affecting productivity, efficiency, and cooperation,' a USDA whistleblower states

  • Having employees back in the office full-time would 'restore productivity and efficiency'

  • The USDA was found to be at only 11 percent occupied between January and March 2023

#3  About 100k work for the USDA. Of those, about 30k work for the Forest Service.

I think the whistleblower is only talking about the HQ in Washington DC.

Unfortunately, the problem here is the laws that have been passed by Congress. For example we still have Mohair subsidies, we have massive subsidies to help farmers grow sugar beets in North Dakota and Minnesota. Each of these requires employees to keep track of acreage, review applications, etc.

#1  Cutting thousands of fed employees would be even better, and based on this, they would hardly be missed.
