World's third-largest largest mosque: All you need to know |
2024-02-28 |
[GEO.TV] With just days into the holy month of Ramadan, Algeria has finally inaugurated the world’s third-largest Africa’s largest mosque, Al Jazeera reported. The inauguration of the mosque was delayed due to political shifts. The media outlet reported that the Grand Mosque of Algiers was inaugurated by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Monday. Locals call it Djamaa El-Djazair. As many as 120,000 worshippers can pray at once. It features the world’s tallest minaret at 265 metres (869 feet). The only mosques bigger than it are in Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... ’s Makkah and Madina. The seven-year construction resulted in a sprawling modernist structure (nearly 70 acres) adorned with wood and marble, and infused with Arabic and North African influences. It even boasts a helicopter pad and a library fit for a million books. The massive mosque, built by a Chinese company, reportedly cost nearly $900 million to construct. |

#3 even though there doesn't seem anything overly complicated about this structure, they couldn't trust an Algerian company to build it I guess |
