In Haiti, attackers kidnapped seven clergy and parishioners | |

![]() [Regnum] At least six parishioners and a clergyman of the Catholic Church were kidnapped by unknown assailants in Haiti. This was reported by the local news portal Haiti Libre. The incident took place in the city of Port-au-Prince, all the abducted were men, they were members of the same Catholic community. According to preliminary data, armed attackers seized people in the morning when they were heading to celebrate the bicentenary of the local school, which remained the only one operating in Port-au-Prince. It is clarified that the kidnappers are demanding a large ransom in exchange for the release of people. Police suspect that an armed gang operating in the area may be involved in the abduction. It is noted that recently cases of kidnapping of clergy for ransom have become more frequent in Haiti.
