Sky News apologizes after anchor compares idea of relocating Gazans to Holocaust
2024-01-28
[IsraelTimes] In on-air apology, UK network recognizes ’complete inappropriateness’ of comparing Likud MK Danon’s idea of allowing Paleostinians to leave amid war to extermination of Jews in WWII

Sky News issued an on-air apology late Friday following an interview with Likud MK Danny Danon in which the interviewer likened his comments in support of voluntary relocation of Gazooks amid the war to the treatment of Jews during the Holocaust.

During the interview on Friday, Danon was discussing an idea he had outlined in a Wall Street Journal opinion piece he co-authored in November, urging "countries around the world to accept limited numbers of Gazook families who have expressed a desire to relocate."
Ingushetia has accepted about 130 Gazan emigrants since the war started, so it can be done.
The host, Belle Donati, claimed that he had "suggested the ethnic cleansing of some of Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
’s population," to which he clarified that he was speaking only of "voluntary emigration."

"I think anyone in the world who voluntary [sic] wants to move to another country should be eligible to do that," he said.
As I recall, something like three quarters of young Gazans wanted to leave before the October 7th massacre, but Hamas gave exit permits to only a favoured few. All the rest they kept trapped within their control. Once again Israel acts to liberate the Palestinians of Gaza from the evil ones they elected to rule over them.
Donati, who appeared impatient and seemed to scoff at Danon’s comments as he spoke, retorted: "Yes, the sort of voluntary relocation of many Jewish people during the Holocaust, I imagine."
During the Holocaust many Jews would have loved to leave, but few countries were willing to accept them. And those few countries were not interested in taking in the millions who wished to flee. My mother and her parents had to wait ten years before their visa numbers could be exercised.
"How can you compare that, shame on you for that comparison," Danon said. "That is a shameful and antisemitic equation... This is pure antisemitism."

Donati attempted to quickly move on to another question, but Danon would not.

"I will not allow you to speak about the Holocaust and compare it to what’s happening today in Israel when we defend ourselves," he said.

In Sky’s apology, a different anchor said Donati "made a comparison between Mr. Danon’s comments on Israel’s war with Hamas
...a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
and the treatment of Jewish people in the Holocaust. Sky News recognizes the complete inappropriateness of this comparison and the offensive nature of those comments.
It sounds like Ms Donati disagrees with the idea that she has anything to apologize for.
"Sky News would like to apologize unreservedly for the comparison and to Mr. Danon personally for making the comparison."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier in January that Israel "has no intention of permanently occupying Gaza or displacing its civilian population," though Danon, a former Israeli ambassador to the UN, told The Times of Israel at the time that "the prime minister told me two weeks ago in this room that it’s a good idea."

The MK’s comments seemingly confirmed an earlier report that the prime minister had informed a Likud faction meeting that he was working to facilitate voluntary migration.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, after the interview, Danon called Donati an "insolent interviewer."

On Saturday night, he said he had seen the Sky apology but was seeking a personal apology from Donati.

#9  Hitler certainly killed a lot of Aryans, he helped put some big numbe of nails in the coffin of Europe.
Like Communists killed millions of Communists and Muslims kill millions of Muslims.

#8  The 'ethnic cleansing' is nothing compared to what will happen here if any terrorists acts/major criminal activity is tied to the open borders we are experiencing.

#6  The Nazis were not very nice
And the Ossis shared most of their vices,
But say what ya like
About both of those Reichs,
They made Sozialismus work... twice!

At least by Russian standards. Now, to read the article... and comments... and links therein. Bemused self-directed sigh.

#5  The same people who compare everything they don't like to the Holocaust also say it wasn't so bad or didn't happen at all.

Either way you look at it.

It shows the underlying true mental thought process of the Anchor and how he selects, covers and presents his idea of news. An how SKY NEWS allowed it, until readers raised hell, and it cost them advertisers & $$$$.

#3  If Hitler was not right about the Aryans being genetically superior and therefore fated to run the world, how can we believe the Nazis were right about anything else, let alone everything? They certainly weren’t right about art or architectural design.
