House Republican tells Texas to ignore Supreme Court ruling, as Biden is ‘staging a civil war'
2024-01-23
[Washington Examiner] Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) called on Texas to ignore the Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of the Biden administration, which allowed Border Patrol to remove physical barriers put in place by the Lone Star State.
The last Civil War was alleged to have been about the 'freedom of slaves.' The next civil war will likely involve the freedom of migrants. Perhaps there is a pattern.
Relaying an exchange with a reporter on X, Higgins reasoned that the Biden administration was "staging a civil war," so Texas would be within its right to ignore the ruling from the nation’s highest court.

"Media: ’Congressman Higgins, the Supreme Court just ruled in favor of the Biden Admin over the State of Texas, saying that the federal government can remove physical barriers at the border put in place by Texas. What are your thoughts?'" Higgins recalled being asked.

"Me: ’My thoughts are that the feds are staging a civil war, and Texas should stand their ground,'" he wrote.

The controversial statement was in response to a 5-4 ruling from the Supreme Court on Monday. The court ruled in favor of a Jan. 2 request by the Justice Department to intervene in a dispute between the Biden administration and Texas, coming after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit stopped the federal government from cutting wire set up by Texas to deter immigrants from illegally crossing the border.

The Supreme Court said the administration should be able to remove physical barriers set up by the state of Texas.

#7  Well, since Biden has chosen to ignore SCOTUS on student loan 'forgiveness', why should anyone else not ignore. The Blue states have been hot and heavy, after the clear signal by SCOTUS on the 2nd Amendment, with another onslaught of obviously unconstitutional acts.

#6  I actually agree with SCOTUS as a matter of law, but that's beside the point. The law only works in a healthy society where everyone is playing by the rules. That is clearly not the case. It's probably time for Texas to secede. And then I need to start working on my immigration application.

#5  They could do some sweeps to make the illegals uncomfortable. The idea would be to make Arizona and California preferred destinations for the invaders.

#4  wow. but the supremes are ruling for the feds controlling the federal border. rightfully so.
Texas might erect armed controls inside Texas and see what happens.

#3  Biden (or his handlers) are not staging a civil war - they demonstrating who won that civil war.

#1  "Staging" an insurrection appears to have worked in D.C. Perhaps this is the next step to ultimate chaos and the long awaited Obama "transformation of America."
