[IsraelTimes] The Israel Defense Forces says the comments cited in a New York Times report earlier were “not known” to the military and “do not reflect the IDF’s position.”The NYT reported today that four senior IDF commanders now believe Israel’s two stated goals of destroying Hamas and freeing the hostages are not compatible.
In a brief statement in response to the report, the IDF says the release of the hostages is part of the goal of the war against Hamas in Gaza and a “major effort” by the IDF.
