Disney's Pixar Animation Studios to reportedly slash jobs |
2024-01-13 |
[NYPOST] Disney-owned Pixar, the animation studio behind blockbuster franchises "Toy Story," The Incredibles" and "Finding Nemo," is set to slash jobs, according to reports. The studio has "completed production on some shows and now has more staff than it needs," Rooters reported on Friday, citing an anonymous source. TechCrunch had reported earlier this week that Pixar will chop headcount by as much as 20% this year, reducing staffing to roughly 1,000 from the current 1,300 that work for the studio. However, a hangover is the wrath of grapes... the anonymous source disputed that number, saying the studio had yet to determine how many will jobs will be cut, but added that the layoffs were "imminent." Disney and Pixar did not immediately respond for requests seeking comment. Disney CEO Bob Iger, who returned to the company in 2022 to turn the struggling entertainment and media giant around, has signaled the company will reduce the streaming content it makes in order to tamp down costs, and instead will license shows and movies from third parties. |

#8 I recall the days where Pixar features would regularly mock Disney animation. Nothing personal I'm sure - just business. |

#6 Sadly, it looks like the Current Management would rather burn it to the ground and sow it with salt before admitting error. It'd be one thing if it was an error. But I'm afraid they're doing it on purpose. |

#5 Uhem. Live Action Make of How to Train Your Dragon (Dreamworks, Disney). The kids who grew up on the trilogy* are not happy. The parents who raised those kids don't care. Those before and after the trilogy aren't interested. The story outline has it starring Astrid, and the casting so far sucks. Predict another girl boss story with heavy exploration of Gobber being gay. *There was an animated short which was a total failure and blasted by the trilogy generation. They, get this, made it set in make believe real world today and had a diverse set of friends with modern issues and dragons were there every once in a while. The design and animation quality was dog shit too. |
