WATCH: DeSantis Says January 6 Defendants ‘Didn't Display Patriotism' by Protesting 2020 Election | |
2024-01-06 | |
![]() DeSantis was unsympathetic to their plight, saying they didn’t "display patriotism" while protesting the election certification. "Did the Jan. 6 insurrectionists display patriotism, as some of them claim they did?" DeSantis was asked by a voter. "No, of course not. That was not a good day for the country," DeSantis replied. "I think the media has taken that and the left has taken that and really tried to politicize it, but it was not a good day for the country," the Republican presidential candidate continued. "Patriotism to me is when you put yourself out there and put service above self."
As of December, roughly 1,240 people have been arrested for being at the Capitol. The New York Times reported earlier this week, "... that may be only half of the total indictments that will ultimately be filed." "As for punishment, more than 450 people have been sent to jail or prison.

#13 Patriotism is allegiance to ones country, not to a party or individual. If you think your country's institutions have been compromised the only possible patriotic response is protest. |

#11 DeSantis sure is stepping on his crank in his feeble attempt at the GOP nomination. He was riding high in Flah-a-da and admired by many outside of FL...wish he'd kept it that way. |

#10 Nothing is ever as unseemly as a politician who seems willing to say whatever they think the lamestream media wants to hear. That'd be DeS and Nimarata |

#8 I really believed he could have sat out this cycle and been in good shape for 2028. Now I doubt he would be a serious candidate in 2028. |

#5 DeSantis has taken one false step after another and now appears to be a political has-been. It is just as well that his stupidity was made evident before he achieved higher office. |
