[Regnum] Iranian law enforcement officers detained 11 people on suspicion of involvement in a terrorist attack near a cemetery in the city of Kerman, the Tasnim news agency reported on January 5, citing the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence.
Law enforcement officers also discovered a house in which two suicide bombers lived, and in it there were explosive devices, including explosive belts, the report said.
In turn, the Fars news agency, citing data from the Iranian Ministry of Internal Affairs, reported that law enforcement officers detained several suspects and discovered “important evidence.” The remains of two suicide bombers were found at the site of the explosions, the report noted.
As Regnum reported earlier, on January 3, during a mourning ceremony on the anniversary of the death of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps General Qassem Soleimani, who was buried in a cemetery in Kerman, two explosions occurred. The victims of the terrorist attack were 89 people, including 39 minors. More than 200 people were injured.
The Islamic State (a terrorist organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) took responsibility for the explosion. Iran's spiritual leader Ali Khamenei threatened the organizers of the terrorist attack with a harsh response.

Soleimani was killed on January 3, 2020, as a result of an airstrike by American forces near Baghdad airport. The Pentagon said that the strike was carried out on the personal orders of then-US President Donald Trump.
Trump later noted that US authorities consider it acceptable to eliminate the country's opponents and that the CIA has organized many such killings in the past. Iran responded to the killing of Soleimani with a strike on American military bases in Iraq, and also imposed sanctions against the alleged organizers of the murder.
Iranian authorities say that security forces had arrested 11 people suspected of involvement in two bomb blasts that killed nearly 100 people at a memorial service for a slain military commander.
Iran’s intelligence ministry says in a statement security forces detained two people for providing support to the two suicide bombers in Kerman and nine others based in other parts of Iran who were suspected of links to the incident.

That source and a second, both of whom requested anonymity to discuss the sensitive issue, said that the intelligence comprised communications intercepts without providing further details. The collection of the intercepts has not been previously reported.
