The Washington Post is Laying Off Hundreds of Staffers |
2023-12-02 |
The paper has seen a drop in digital subscription revenue and is trying to buy out employees to balance the budget. Perhaps more people would read the paper if they weren’t so obviously Democrat activists pretending to be journalists. The Hill reports: Washington Post braces for layoffs |

#13 Bezos bought the WaPo to peddle his brand of political thought and be a major influencer. Along the way the WOKE, the editorial staff co-opted journalism to keep their jobs, despite the screeching decline in even modest efforts at balanced reporting and accuracy. In their heart-of-hearts, they had to wonder if there would be a reckoning for selling out! Schadenfreude! |

#9 ...laying off hundreds of employees due to ’economic hardship.’ Merry Fucking Christmas guys - learn to code! |

#8 Maybe the laid off WaPo staffers can get a cross company transfer and work at an Amazon fulfilment center. I mean, they still need people for Christmas. (snicker) |

#7 Long after the last human staffer is gone, the paper will carry on merrily with AI generated propaganda unhindered by the cost of salaries, benefits or moral qualms. And the nice part is no one will notice since the generative chatbots were trained on exactly the sort of drivel WaPo produces now. |

#4 ^ Like jet setting Hollyweird stars, WaPo get's the "Greater Goodâ„¢" exemption. All that pretty math is out the window. Now, your BBQ grill, OTOH... |

#3 Looking at it from a Eco Tree hugger standpoint.☺ Based on current paid subscribers, shutting down the WAPO will save about 82,368 tons of paper a year. At about 21 trees per ton of paper, that works out to about 1,729,728 trees saved a year. (Note: Pines take 7 to 10+ years to grow to ROI harvest size) Then add in all the fossil fuel, carbon energy and related materials involved for production and distribution of the newspaper itself. So, the WAPO going Belly-Up would eliminate a major Carbon Footprint on the environment. QUESTION: Where's Al Gore? |

#2 Bezos bought the WaPo because it is the default propaganda organ in the DC bubble. Long after the last human staffer is gone, the paper will carry on merrily with AI generated propaganda unhindered by the cost of salaries, benefits or moral qualms. |

#1 Expecting Marxists to understand basic capitalism? Bezos, who does understand capitalism, has a real expensive personal hobby there. |
