[Regnum] The Russian Navy has received two nuclear submarines at its disposal - the strategic cruiser Emperor Alexander III and the multipurpose submarine K-571 Krasnoyarsk, a source in the military-industrial complex told reporters.
“Acceptance documents have been signed on the transfer to the fleet of two submarines, Alexander III and Krasnoyarsk, built at Sevmash,” noted the interlocutor, quoted by RIA Novosti.
According to him, the official flag-raising ceremony on these submersibles will take place after December 10. The source recalled that the ship is considered accepted for combat duty only after the St. Andrew's flag is raised on board.
He added that for now we are talking about the technical transfer of submarines.
As Regnum reported , on November 21, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the completion of state tests of the Emperor Alexander III submarine. The head of the department clarified that this cruiser will be transferred to the Pacific Fleet. He also informed that the share of modern ships in the Russian nuclear triad has reached 100%.
On November 7, a source close to the Russian Ministry of Defense told TASS that, as part of state tests, the Krasnoyarsk submarine successfully launched the Oniks supersonic missile and the Kalibr-PL cruise missile. The launches were carried out from an underwater position in the White Sea.
