Russia requests an informal meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine on December 8

[REGNUM] Nebenzya: The Russian Federation convenes an informal meeting of the UN Security Council on the “Arria formula” on Ukraine

Russia will hold a meeting of the UN Security Council on the “Arria formula” regarding the situation in Ukraine. The meeting is scheduled for December 8, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya announced on November 21 .

At a UN Security Council meeting on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, convened by the United States and Albania, the diplomat did not go into details of how the scenario of a Maidan coup, prepared in the West, was played out by radical nationalists.

“We will provide the opportunity to talk in more detail about what happened to the participants in the events themselves during a special meeting of the council on the “Arria formula”, which we will hold on December 8 ,” Nebenzya said.

According to the permanent representative, the Maidan in Kyiv was conceived solely as a means of weakening Russia in the interests of the West; the Ukrainians were cynically used. The most important element of the coup was the “criminal provocation of the radical opposition with the shooting of protesters,” which resulted in the death of over 100 people.

The opposition disavowed the transition agreements signed under the guarantee of Germany, France and Poland and removed the then President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, from power , in violation of the country’s constitution, Nebenzya recalled.

As a result of anti-government protests, a “bloody anti-constitutional coup” occurred. Ultimately, this led to a systemic state crisis that threatens international peace and security, the Russian diplomat added.

As Regnum reported, in Turkey they believe that Western countries, if they wish, can commit a new Maidan in Ukraine against the current government. Social tension in the country is exacerbated by the lack of success and corruption. The coming winter portends many events, noted journalists from the Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet.

From the point of view of the deputy director of the Institute of History and Politics of Moscow State University, political scientist Vladimir Shapovalov , the Maidan of 2014 became a fork in the fate of Ukraine. Having chosen the wrong road, Kyiv reached a state of half-life along it. We must not forget that there were two Maidans in Ukraine. The first occurred in 2004, the second on November 21, 2013, the expert recalled.

On the eve of the first Maidan, a decision was made to create a single economic space consisting of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. And before the second Maidan, President Viktor Yanukovych decided to begin the process of integrating Ukraine into the Customs Union and, as a result, rapprochement with Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, Shapovalov added.
