#7  I'm sorry to hear that, but I thought it was because he gave up trying to figure out which pronouns to use and when to use them...

#6  Well, he was a deck officer on the Fitzgerald and the McCain (both had collisions when he had moved on) and been given command of an LCS, and all of them are destined for the scrapyard.
Not a pleasant career trajectory, even if none of it was your fault.

#4  So sad. Sounds about right, Mike. We never know the burden any other man is carrying.

#2 Given the DC current Political Regime New Normal and etc. Yes the Suicide rate has gone off the charts. But why do I wonder if there is a bigger story yet to be released?

NN2N1,

Last I heard - which was apparently just before this happened - the word was that Marinette was likely to be stuck in Cleveland until spring. Now the word from home is that the community was going to be looking out for the crew; and I'd expect nothing less from my hometown.

The issue, though may have been that the USN was planning on making the entire crew stay there until she could get clear - no leave, definitely no home for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Apparently the idea of rotating a skeleton crew was shot down, and nothing else was going to be allowed. Can't help but wonder if CDR Volkle may not have already been in a bad place for some reason, and being effectively confined to the ship for the next 5-6 months wasn't the last straw.
