#2  Back in the older, real law enforcement days, a guy who shot a cop NEVER was taken alive. The slippery stairs or road skids were frequent mishaps for those miscreants who assaulted a cop. Just saying...

#1  Back in the real law enforcement days when the guy who shot the cop was taken alive, he would have been bounced off the concrete a few times as a warning to behave on the way back or they would do it again.
