Hungary's Orbán Calls the European Union a ‘Bad Contemporary Parody' of the Soviet Union
2023-10-24
[Gateway] Now that Poland has fallen to the siren song of Globalism and former liberal PM Donald Tusk is set to return to power, Hungary is the next nationalist target in the European Union.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán kicked off the campaign towards next year’s European Parliamentary Elections aiming his criticism at the EU’s unabashed authoritarianism, that he compared to another ’Union’ of the past: the Soviet Union.

The Guardian reported:

"Speaking in Veszprém, Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán poked fun at the EU’s rule of law measures against Hungary and called Brussels a bad parody.

’Fortunately, Brussels is not Moscow — Moscow was a tragedy, Brussels is only a bad contemporary parody. We had to dance as Moscow whistled. Even if Brussels whistles, we dance as we want, and if we don’t want to, we don’t dance.’

But while the Soviet Union was hopeless, the EU is not, the prime minister said, pointing to next year’s European parliament election.

’Moscow was beyond repair, but Brussels and the European Union can be repaired’."

Orbán ramped up the criticism of the bloc’s leaders on Monday, after 13 years of power in a constant struggle against EU globalist policies such as LGBT and migration.

He also tightened state controls over NGOs, academics, the courts and media, in an attempt to avoid liberal infiltration.

Liberals rallied in Budapest to protest Orbán’s agenda. Some fear Hungary might leave the EU altogether, a prospect the Prime Minister has repeatedly dismissed.

#2  â€™Moscow was beyond repair, but Brussels and the European Union can be repaired’."

I doubt he believes that latter part; I sure as hell don't.
