Also assuming Hamas is not significantly exaggerating for effect. After all, the claim of 2.3 million population in Gaza is — possibly as much as double reality.

#6  If the numbers are accurate, who cares? War is not a tit-for-tat affair and the civilians were told to leave and Hamas worked to stop them. Any civilian deaths are on Hamas' head.
