“The General Staff has no plans for additional mobilization. The armed forces have the necessary number of military personnel to conduct a special military operation,” he said.
The head of the Ministry of Defense emphasized that this circumstance is largely facilitated by the strong patriotic position of Russians who are actively participating in military service.
“Since the beginning of the year, more than 335 thousand people have entered military service under contract and into volunteer formations. In September alone, more than 50 thousand citizens signed a contract,” Shoigu also noted.
He clarified that all regions, large enterprises, state corporations of the country and the Russian Cossacks play a significant role in this issue. The minister added that a number of entities have created and continue to staff their own registered units.

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said on September 26 that since the beginning of this year , over 325 thousand people have been accepted into contract military service in the Russian army . He clarified that work on replenishing the Russian Armed Forces and monitoring the combat and military-political training of military personnel continues.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on September 12 that every day about 1-1.5 thousand people sign a contract for military service. The head of state emphasized that Russian men go to the front consciously and voluntarily, understanding that they could die or be seriously injured while defending the interests of the Motherland.

Conscripts will not be sent to the combat zone, Shoigu said
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on October 3 that conscripts, including from new regions, would not be sent to the combat zone.
“Once again, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that all conscripts, including those from new regions, will not be sent to the combat zone,” the minister said at a thematic conference call with the leadership of the Russian Armed Forces.
Shoigu added that the autumn conscription campaign is going according to plan.
In Russia, the autumn conscription for military service began on October 1. The Russian Ministry of Defense expects that 130 thousand people will enter the service. At the same time, in five Russian regions: Transbaikalia, Kamchatka, Khabarovsk Territory, Yakutia and Chukotka, the conscription campaign starts on November 1 due to climatic conditions.
A total of 147,000 conscripts were called up for the spring conscription campaign of 2023.
