#34  Ukrainians seem a bit better than the Russians at playing the media game

They kinda have to at this point. The Russians just flat out lie while Ukraine has to justify its output to the west so it tends to be more accurate. Agreed in the beginning it was shit as they were trying to rally their population, but now they have to keep up appearances that they are doing what they say so they HAVE to be mostly honest.

#32  if despire is not a word, it should be.

As for whose media source is more bullshitier, my default position is that *everybody* is trying to sell me something, using whatever skill and information resources they have at hand. They may do it by omitting important parts (the Russians) or by making things up wholesale (the Ukrainians). It may be that the interesting part is not the message, but who is saying it at this particular moment. But at the end of the day, it is not about facts, it's all about persuasion.

That aside, the Ukrainians seem a bit better than the Russians at playing the media game. This is ironic given the fUSSR's reputation for propaganda. Perhaps it is something to do with Zelensky's previous career as an actor and comedian. Or perhaps another sign that Russia is not the Soviet Union.

Just another set of dead NATO mercenaries.

And the point isn't WaPo & WSJ are more reliable then RT* - they aren't. Not by a long margin. The point is, the War is loosing support among its most enthusiastic cheerleaders.

*Russian press still has some sense of proportion, western lost it long time ago - true believers, dontcha know?
Posted by: Grom the Reflective   2023-09-24 17:31

#23  Really Grom? Both of those link back to RT which is more Russian bullshit.

As for Murcek's comment, isn't that the fucking truth? Whether it is state lies, MSM fuckery or just plain bad reporting there is waaaaaay to much bullshit out there. I like to see it verified through geolocated video/GPS/Cell and/or confirmed by a third party. It is a slugfest and one Russia is slowly losing... for now. Long range weapons against C2 locations, supply interdiction and artillery suppression seems to be doing the job for Ukraine. But all it takes is the west to lose interest/hope and cut off aid and Russia will grind their way through Ukraine. Quite simply, that is where we are at.

Despite or despair?

Hey, if they present evidence that is verified by 3rd parties they got Germans, I'll fully say you where right.

Until then, this goes into the bucket of bullshit.

#16  Except that is a splice of several videos, including the Leopard that was hit during the first drive by mines then finished off by artillery way back in July. No video of Germans, to pictures of authenticated documents, just drone footage of strikes and an older destruction.

Nice try Dale.

Posted by: Grom the Reflective   2023-09-24 15:23

#9  That has been very well debunked as Russian propaganda. There have been many verified NATO and US instructors that have been shown training the Ukrainians on all this equipment and videos of Ukrainian soldiers operating them in the field and during battle.

And they are asking for modern weapons, not old Soviet garbage.
Posted by: DarthVader   2023-09-24 15:20

#8  #6 Who do you think operates HIMARs, long range UAVs & Storm Shadows - Ukrainians (who beg for old Soviet equipment)?

#6  "We're correspondents. From the Daily Mail.

I would be unsurprised if NATO troops started showing up in Ukraine, whether deployed, as mercenaries, or just on vacation. We can supply more money and equipment, but not more Ukrainians.

Posted by: SteveS   2023-09-24 12:37

#5  ^But not actual Bundeswehr soldiers, Visitor. I mean, even Polaks are smart enough to have their soldiers in Ukraine pretend to be mercs.

On the other hand, given the latest gem from Ursula von der Leyen ...

For some reason, I'm reminded of this old song
Posted by: Grom the Reflective   2023-09-24 12:35

But this is a Russian propaganda site that spews crap like this that is mostly consumed in Russia so I am not giving it any weight.
