Ukraine's ‘Biggest Ever' Storm Shadow Attack Fails Miserably As Russia Learns From Sep 13 Missile Strikes
2023-09-22
By Vijainder K Thakur

[Eurasian Times] In an unprecedented daylight strike on September 20, Ukraine launched 8 Strom Shadows stealth cruise missiles from 11 Su-24M tactical bombers targeting Russia’s Black Sea Fleet (BSF) at Sevastopol.

Despite the use of sophisticated tactics such as flying low over the Black Sea to escape detection by Russian air defense (AD) systems and the use of 3 AGM-160 MALD decoy missiles, the attack failed completely. Not one Storm Shadow missile struck its target!

#24  Both are still fully working. Regular missile reloads are delivered. One is protecting Kiev and the location of the other one changes.

#23  Interesting how reports about the Patriot batteries have dropped out of sight. Wonder how many are still operational

#19  In addition, the second warhead (on video) was set to explode with a large delay, destroying and burying any underground command posts.

#18  he building in question was NOT hit with 500 kg (1000 pounds) warhead?

For the fetal alcohol syndrome Russian contributor:
The strike on the Russian occupiers’ Black Sea Fleet HQ in #Sevastopol that killed Admiral #Sokolov appears to have consisted of at least two bullseye hits. The building was already burning significantly as the second missile struck:

Stormshadow:
Warhead Multistage BROACH penetration warhead
Warhead weight 450 kilograms (990 lb)

#16  I have unofficial confirmation from 🇺🇦 sources: Black Sea Fleet commander Admiral Viktor #Sokolov was killed in today’s strike in #Sevastopol.
Sokolov personally ordered missile strikes on civilian targets in #Ukraine & would’ve been indicted as a war criminal had he survived.

#15  #11 Francis, Anikin I don't expect much from Enver, but surely the two of you have realized that the building in question was NOT hit with 500 kg (1000 pounds) warhead?

#13  Shoddy Hindu Times level of outsourcing propaganda work.

We should all know by now what is the first thing to fly out the window when the shooting starts. It's tough to find reliable information. But I suppose I could be reading twitter feeds.

#12  The Russians have also successfully promoted their surface ships to submarines to help defeat Ukrainian missiles and drones.

#11  I guess it's true then: Putin's forces HAVE learned to intercept Storm Shadow missiles...with Military Facilities

#7  Ukraine has launched a missile attack on the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, the Russian-appointed governor of Sevastopol, Crimea, said on Friday.

Russian state media TASS reported that debris was “scattered for hundreds of meters” following the missile strike. TASS added that a large number of ambulances were on their way to the scene of the attack.

#4  Still the 20th and the main strike: Saki Airbase in Crimea attacked. 12-15 Su-30, Su-24s based there as well as Shahed drone launchers. 30 reported dead. Waiting for sat photo damage assessment.
“According to the data from our sources, at least 12 combat aircraft (Su-24 and Su-30) were in the airfield, as well as the Pantsir missile system. A training base of the Mojaher unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators was also located there. Russians use these UAVs to coordinate their air attacks and as combat drones,” the interlocutors told.

#3  Shoddy Hindu Times level of outsourcing propaganda work. Pay the extra 20 cents/hour and hire North Koreans.

Sept 20:
The first satellite images appeared after the attack on the command post (and communications complex) of the Russian Black Sea Fleet near the village of Verkhniosadove in the temporarily occupied Crimea. Nice Olympic size swimming pool where the building used to be.

“Blasts [have been heard] near the Omega Bay and the student quarter. Cape Fiolent is cheerfully detonating too,” Andriushchenko wrote.

#2  ^Incidentally, I've discovered this guy - an ex-soviet naval officer who lives in USA: publishes books on military history/theory and runs a blog/vlog - by accident. IMO, if nothing else, he's extremely entertaining.

Warning. He's (extremely) offensive for people who confuse patriotism with "cheering for our team" & "only Americans have the right to criticize US"

#1  As I pointed out a few days ago, NATO feeds their wunderwaffes into the Ukrainian bonfire one by one - and Russians learn to cope with them one by one.
