2023-09-18
[X thread] The United States + just 6 of the many European artillery ammo makers will ramp up to over 2.5 million 155mm arty rounds per year. For reference this is a single country and 6 companies. (There are dozens of other company’s making artillery ammo that can go to Ukraine)

US said that the West is not able to give Ukraine enough shells

Western countries cannot supply the amount of ammunition required by the Kyiv regime. The American television channel CNN reported this on September 17.

“Nearly 18 months later, a significant gap remains between the number of shells Ukraine wants and how quickly European and American factories can deliver them,” the article says.

It is noted that Russia, despite international sanctions, produces artillery ammunition much faster than the West. At the same time, Western countries, unlike Russia, have not yet learned to produce cheap and standardized shells on a large scale.

As Regnum reported, Atlantic columnist Kori Sheik wrote that in the event of a large-scale war, the United States would run out of ammunition in a few weeks, and would have enough weapons for less than seven days. She emphasized that arms supplies to Ukraine do not play a role in this case, since they are insignificant. According to her, the United States does not have enough ammunition in stock to respond in the event of a large-scale military conflict.

#6  I read that Russian production of artillery shells is in the 50-60,000/month range. Opening new factories requires imported machinery that can be embargoed/intercepted.

#5  Whose army is gonna march across the Atlantic or Pacific? AFAIK, the US Army hasn't released the size of its artillery stockpile. The only number I saw (can't vouch for accuracy) was 7.5 million cluster shells. 5.5 million for the US and 2 million held in reserve for allies. Then there the stockpiles of the US Air Force, Navy and Marines.

Unfortunately, this isn't too far off. Towards the end of the cold war, we could probably have made it thirty days, and then the cupboards would have been bare. Now....7-10 days for PGMs, maybe enough straight ammo for three weeks. Then we're done.

#1  Hurray for the military industrial complex! This war is the best thing that ever happened to them.

Just think, what if they had influence inside the us government? They could start wars for their own profit! Sadly just a crazy conspiracy theory though.
