Turkish drone strike kills one in Hasaka: Monitor

[Rudaw] One person is dead after a suspected Ottoman Turkish drone targeted a vehicle on the outskirts of Hasaka in northeast Syria (Rojava) on Saturday, a local war monitor reported.

The drone struck a vehicle on the main highway in northeast Syria’s Hasaka province, killing one person and injuring another, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a UK-based war monitor.

"The targeting also led to burning and material damage at the site," SOHR added.

The PKK is an gang fighting for the increased rights of Kurds in Turkey. Ankara considers the group and its alleged offshoots in Syria terrorist organizations and has carried out two major military operations against them since 2018.

According to SOHR, Turkey has carried out 46 dronezaps on areas controlled by Kurdish forces in northern Syria since January, resulting in 54 deaths. On August 23, a Ottoman Turkish dronezap on a vehicle on the Qamishli-Amuda road in Rojava killed at least one journalist and injured another.
