USAA - 'The Decline and Fall of a Once Great Company'
2023-08-23
BLUF:
[American Thinker] USAA's extreme emphasis on DIE, CSR, and ESG metrics comes as a surprise and to the dismay of many of its loyal customers. The company's departure from its fiduciary responsibilities and foray into the realm of politics contributed to the first non-profitable year in 2022, the first in its 100-year history.

#15  USAA is extending coverage to the grandchildren of Vets. Struck me as odd, but now I know why.

#14  /\ In the popular vernacular.... 'you be the man Mike.'

#13  It's amazing what I miss since I stopped watching TV. Well, not that amazing.

#9 #7 B: I got the Weathertech floor mats. Love em, but I didn't dance.

Course, as a White dude, I can't dance

...Preach it, Brother. The struggle is real. I'm not allowed to dance in 46 states.

Strike that - it's 47; Utah caved last Thursday.

#11  USAA does have native English speakers answer the phone who have been unfailingly polite across the past 10 years. Seems like many if not most of them are former military. They paid promptly without quibbling in claims too. Kicker for me was their ensuring firearms without requiring serial numbers. YMMV

#10  WeatherTech mats rule.

#8  Insurance is a legal requirement in many instances.

Unless you are in the country illegally.

#7  The dancing floor mat guy. My all time favorite WOKE television commercial.

#6  #4 - Yes, Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank. Oh, wait, they aren't around anymore. I'll have to think of another one or two.

#5  Like a good rock band that ultimately goes commercial.

But the arrogance of management. You want to ruin a good company with a good reputation, this is how you do it.

#4  Can anyone name a major secure bank/insurance company that is not woke (as of yet)?

#3  Their television commercials are an indication they have gone totally woke.

#1  ...A couple years ago while my youngest son was still at home, we were looking for car insurance for him. I've been with State Farm for 43 years and never had a moment's problem with them, but what they were asking to get him started was a bit more than we could afford at the time.

So - went to the USAA website and discovered two things. First, they want every possible bit of data they can pry out of you first, and trust me - it gets sold.

Second, their prices suck. I mean, tactical nuclear Hoover-level suck.

So, we went to the SF office, sat down with our agent, and got the prices tweaked to the point where we could make it happen - something you can't do with USAA.
