[Korrespondent] The entire civilized world should know what a tragedy Russia has brought to Ukraine and Mariupol, and ensure that every war criminal receives a fair punishment, they called on the City Council.
During the siege of Mariupol, Donetsk region, Russian invaders killed at least 147 children. This was announced on Saturday, August 19, in a message on the Telegram channel of the City Council.
"Thanks to the Mariupol resistance, it was possible to obtain a list of children killed in the Donetsk region for 2022. Mariupol children went through registration in morgues in the temporarily occupied ones: Mariupol, Mangush and Novoazovsk. The data, confirmed by the occupiers, are 101 Mariupol children who died in Mariupol during the ruthless bombardment cities from the Russian invaders," the city council said.
It is noted that out of 101 registered children killed, 87 bodies can be identified.
"The data obtained allowed us to verify the number of children who died during the siege of Mariupol. A terrible figure is 147 children. Unfortunately, we understand that this number may be higher," Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko said.
The City Council published some of these documents in compliance with the terms of the law on the protection of personal data.
“But we don’t recommend reading them for those who are especially sensitive. Each item is a terrible human tragedy. Some of this list was not even a year old,” Boychenko added.
Boychenko stressed that every war criminal should receive a fair punishment.
Earlier it was reported that civilians cannot receive basic medical care in Mariupol, as the occupiers are forcing medical institutions to serve the wounded Russian military.
