Austin police blast 'miserable' conditions and 911 callers put on hold as crime rates in Texas city soar after BLM-inspired defund movement
2023-08-20
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Austin Police Association has revealed how the 'defund the police' movement stripped departments and how the workforce is declining through attrition

  • George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Michael Ramos became household names and their faces synonymous with what had been dubbed 'extreme police brutality'

  • This led to mass budget cuts, which have somewhat been reinstated, but have had adverse effects on police responding to soaring crime rates across the U.S.

#3  The state govt has pulled DPS officers in and set up a deal with Travis county to make sure govt assets are protected.
I personally think the real reason that so many cities go along with the "defund the police" is it means the money keeps coming in, but they won't have to spend it on safety. More to steal that way.
You'll note, as police get thinned out, there's no corresponding reduction in taxes.

#1  Great time to be a sanctuary city that defunded its police force. No mention of the immigration issues in this article. I bet they didn’t defund the Texas State Capitol Police.
