The article speaks of an AI run/controlled visual gun detection & situational awareness app that is layered with existing city digital security cameras. The AI software picks up on what it believes to be a firearm and alerts police. Now that AI has digital eyes to via public street cameras already spread around town. ![]() I guess the old Gov. toe in the door question is. How long before AI is used to track citizen movements and activities like is done in the CCP for "social credit" grading ? [GovTech] ZeroEyes, creators of the only AI-based gun detection video analytics platform, recently announced that its platform has been deployed by the city of Hobbs, N.M., to protect citizens against gun-related threats. The city chose ZeroEyes after closely evaluating the company's successful work with Hobbs Municipal School District, where the platform has been deployed for over a year. The City of Hobbs has a 60-month professional services contract for a subscription service with ZeroEyes. The subscription renews annually and the annual cost of the service is $22,500, an emal from Commications Director Meghan Mooney said. |

#1 From the thin description, the system is trained on images/video of people pointing or brandishing guns, it doesn't recognize actual guns. It might be amusing for a gang of mischievous techno-scamps to stage simultaneous flash mob shoot-outs in a few locations with finger guns and dramatic death scenes. The system would go nuts. |
