At Galmadug, the elders reaffirmed their support towards counterterrorism measures, adding that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has made tremendous milestones in uniting the country against terrorism. Galmadug has been the epicenter of the crackdown against al-Shabaab.
In his speech, Hassan Sheikh maintained that al-Shabaab has no place in Somalia, adding that the government will not have time to engage the group until the operation is concluded. He thanked locals for their commitment to seize the country from the hands of al-Shabaab bad boys.
Already, a number of clans have been mobilized with the military now aiming at combing Galmadug and HirShabelle states where the first phase of operations against al-Shabaab was anchored. Already, al-Shabaab has started retreating following intensified military activities.
