Defense forces of Ukraine hold back the Russian offensive in the Maryinka area.
This is reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Also, the Ukrainian defenders continue to conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, entrench themselves at the reached boundaries, inflict fire damage from artillery on the identified enemy targets, carry out counter-battery countermeasures.
During the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces made three strikes on areas where enemy personnel were concentrated, and units of rocket forces and artillery during the day hit eight artillery pieces in firing positions, two radio-electronic warfare stations, an ammunition warehouse, as well as a warehouse of enemy fuel and lubricants.
During the day, Russia carried out 10 airstrikes and launched 19 attacks from rocket salvo systems on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas.

The situation at the front as of 18:00 on July 28 is as follows:
on the Volyn and Polissky directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. No signs of the formation of offensive groups were found;
in Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi, the Russians carried out airstrikes in the regions of Galaganivka and Leonivka of Chernihiv Oblast and Iskriskivshchyna and Volfynoy of Sumy Oblast. More than 15 settlements were shelled by mortars and artillery. In particular, these are Ivashki, Gur'iv Kozachok, Udy, Strelecha, Zelene and Okhrimivka in the Kharkiv region;
on Kupyansk, the occupiers carried out an airstrike in the Druzhelyubivka area of ​​the Kharkiv region. Kolodyazne, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Sinkivka and Kislivka of the Kharkiv region were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar attacks;
on Lymansky, the invaders carried out an airstrike in the Hryhorivka district of the Donetsk region. The settlements of Nevske, Bilogorivka of the Luhansk region and Torske, Verkhnokamianske, and Spirne of the Donetsk region were subjected to artillery shelling;
in Bakhmutsky, more than 15 settlements were damaged by enemy artillery shelling, among them Minkivka, Bogdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Predtechine, Bila Gora of the Donetsk region;
in Avdiivka, the Russians carried out an airstrike in the area of ​​Avdiivka. More than 10 settlements, including Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Karlivka in Donetsk region, were hit by artillery fire;
in Maryinsky, the enemy shelled more than 10 settlements, among them Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, Pobieda, and Georgiivka of the Donetsk region;
in Shakhtarsky, the occupiers shelled the settlements of Odradne, Blagodatne, Makarivka, Zelene Pole and Novodarivka of the Donetsk region;
in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, the invaders are concentrating their main efforts on preventing the further advance of Ukrainian troops. More than 25 settlements, including Chervone, Gulyaipole, Charivne, Novoandriivka, and Stepove of the Zaporizhia region, were hit by artillery fire; Zolota Balka, Mykhailivka, Kozatske, Tyaginka, Ivanivka and Sadov in the Kherson region.
We will remind that two residents of Kherson Oblast were injured due to Russian shelling.
In the meantime, border guards intercepted threats from a Russian ship to a merchant ship in the Black Sea.
