...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...(HTS) launched a security campaign in the western and northern countryside of Idlib, arresting 26 individuals, including women, in response to attacks on its checkpoints and security personnel in the region.
A source told North Press that the General Security conducted a series of arrests at the town of Jisr al-Shughur and its villages, al- Yacoubiyah and al- Jdayde, which targeted 16 individuals, including three women, in response to an attack on a checkpoint in the area the previous night.
In addition, HTS launched a parallel campaign in the town of Maarrat Misrin and Kafarya in northeastern Idlib, targeting 10 individuals, including an Iraqi woman, in response to an attack by unknown assailants against one of its checkpoints at the entrance of Maarrat Misrin.
The campaign will continue on Sunday and Monday, with the aim of capturing cells targeting HTS’ positions, particularly following the liquidation of its security personnel last week.
