Terrorists Ambush, Kill Four Nigerian Police Officers At Checkpoint In Zamfara State

[Sahara Reporters] At least four coppers have been killed by turbans in the Bungudu local government area of Zamfara State.

It was learnt that the late coppers were said to have mounted a checkpoint along Bungudu-Gusau Road when the terrorists, locally dubbed as bandidos, ambushed and opened fire on them.

The spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the latest attack to Channels Television via telephone on Tuesday morning.

Ibrahim Bungudu, a native of Bungudu town, revealed that four coppers were murdered in the incident.

He claimed that the marauding bandidos also killed one person in Tagero village, which is located in the Furfuri area of the Bungudu Local Government Area (LGA).

Bungudu further stated that the robbers robbed many animals belonging to Tagero village inhabitants.

The statement reads: "The bandidos ambushed the police along Gusau-Bungudu road close to Nabature company and killed four. They also rustled many cattle at Tagero village under Furfuri district, one person was shot in the hand in the village.

Usman Bungudu, another Bungudu local, verified the attack.

He claimed that the bandidos ambushed the coppers when they were on checkpoint duty about midnight and killed four of them.

"The incident happened around 12 am when the coppers mounted a checkpoint along Gusau road. The bandidos just ambushed and shot at them; they bravely ran away after killing four coppers," he said.
