A military source of the militia in Abu Kamal said that person or persons unknown targeted with machineguns the headquarters of the Rapid Support forces of the Iranian-backed Hashemiyoun militia on the outskirts of the Abu Kamal desert in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The source told North Press that the attack resulted in "critical" injuries in four members of the militia. They were taken to hospital inside Iraqi territories.

The Iranian-backed Liwa Fatemiyoun, Hashemiyoun, Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba militias seized over 200 houses in Abu Kamal and its countryside since the beginning of 2023, particularly in al-Sukariya, and villages of al-Salihiyah and al-Hamdan, according to activists.
