#5 KA-52, which has been performing horribly, actually has been doing a good chunk of the damage. Ukraine lacks a SAM that is short to mid-range. They have MANPADs(short) and Patriot, S300 and the NASAMS which are all in the medium to long range. There is a 5-10km gap in the air defense and the Russians took full advantage of it. The KA-52 can sit right down in that area, above their own lines and launch their anti-tank missiles with impunity. |
