Where are the Armed Forces trying to attack?
The main tactical groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the South-Donetsk sector of the front are trying to attack in five directions: Priyutnoye - from the northwest and north, Rivnopol - from the north, Harvest - from the north and northeast, as well as Kremenchug and Novodonetsk.
The fifth direction of impact is south of the Vremevsky ledge from Makarovka. To break through these areas, the Armed Forces of Ukraine each time throw more and more new forces, but the result has not yet changed: company-tactical groups on infantry fighting vehicles, tanks and armored cars of foreign production are dying in minefields - both during the offensive and during the withdrawal, about which the Military chronicle reported earlier.
However, a detailed study of the direction of the strike raises doubts that this particular direction was chosen for the general offensive and the introduction into battle of all the reserves remaining in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
What is wrong with the direction of the main attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine?
If you carefully study the map of the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Vremevsky ledge, you will find that there are only two large and relatively complete roads suitable for the transfer of reserves in the area. The first is the T-0518 highway (from Velikaya Novosyolka to Staromlynovka). The second is the T-0509 highway (Velikaya Novosyolka - Zolotaya Niva).
Both roads are under fire control of the RF Armed Forces. It should be noted that the development of the road network and geographical features in the areas of activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not contribute to either the rapid advance of troops, or the deployment of formations or formations in battle formations, or the dispersal of troops.
At the same time, the rear areas of the AFU grouping are under surveillance and are regularly attacked by the RF Armed Forces. It is extremely difficult to use them to concentrate the forces and means necessary for the offensive.
At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue demonstrative attacks in this direction, however, in the event of a full-scale offensive in this segment, much larger forces would have to be used. According to the Military Chronicle, several units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this area do not have a single plan and operate on separate tactical tasks.
What else is wrong?
Despite significant losses in a number of areas, as well as the entry into battle of a unit armed with the M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, Leopard 2A6 tanks, M109A6 Paladin self-propelled guns, as well as Mastiff, Wolfhound and Maxxpro MCIs, a significant part of the APU reserves have not yet appeared on the battlefield.
In addition, at the moment it is not known for certain where the remaining Bradley infantry fighting vehicles are located, and these are about 90 vehicles. It is also noteworthy that during all the days of the offensive, Ukrainian troops did not commit groups of more than two or three battalions into battle.
For several days, instead of the formations destroyed on the battlefield, reserves arrived, but now the situation with a shortage of people and equipment began to worsen. It is not easy to break through the defense with the current forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: in order to carry out a strike along the Velikaya Novosyolka-Staromlynovka line, presumably, a brigade-level unit is required - about 4 thousand people at a time.
What is the result?
A series of large-scale attacks in the South-Donetsk direction, probably serves as a cover. For what exactly, remains to be seen in the near future.
It is possible that attacks on villages, which cannot be taken without bringing up large reserves, are undertaken to form additional reserves that will be thrown into battle later.
According to another version, attempts to break through in the South-Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions may be a cover for preparing the main attack in another area. At the same time, the main part of the reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can probably be assembled at the site of the alleged strike at the very last moment.
