Over 130 vehicles broken into, several guns stolen at Henry County, GA. apartment complexes
2023-05-13
[WSB-TV Atanta] STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — Neighbors in Stockbridge are on edge after they say thieves broke into dozens of cars overnight at two Henry County apartment complexes.

Neighbors living on Rock Quarry Road woke up to multiple car windows shattered and their items tossed and tampered with.

Stockbridge Police said a group of thieves hit 132 cars in two apartment complexes, and Carter was told they got away with several guns.

"Listen, I woke up to a storm...not the weather but a thief in the night," Kevin Varnell said.

Sweeping glass into a dustpan was not how Warnell wanted to spend his Sunday morning.

"Both of my cars, my daughter’s car, everything just destroyed and chaos," Varnell said.

#10  Often they leave guns in vehicles when they are not allowed to carry them into the establishment they are visiting.

True.

Overnighting at a party, I'd check it with my coat.

Still, NN2N1 is right this was a canvas hit.

#9  If you have never sat in a car at night and watched some skell go down the street checking every car to see if it's unlocked, you don't get out at night much. And lots of newer cars are easier to get into if locked than older ones.

#8  Need I say DUMB A$$ for leaving firearms in a car in any Apartment complex overnight.

Given they hit 132 vehicles in just 2 complexes.
This sounds like a large Organized Pro Team using large cargo type vans with limited windows. Not some thugs or punks roaming the area.

#7  ^ Creates a sweet opening for a law: If a place wants to declare itself a "gun free zone" under the law, they MUST provide secure storage for any customers' firearms during their visits.

#5  Please DO NOT leave firearms in your car or truck.

Never understood why people do this. And usually most vulnerable to/from vehicle/structure.

#3  That's the thing about looking for something. You always find it in the last place you look.

#2  Sheriff Grady Judd made that point in the video from yesterday's post about the gang shooting of the Lakeland cop. The perps got their gunz by theft from vehicles.
