Next Cold Storm to hit CA 28. March
2023-03-28
[Sacramento NWS:] The next winter storm is making its [way] towards NorCal and will bring widespread rain & heavy mountain snow tonight [27 March] through Wednesday. Give yourself extra time for your commute the next few days. Mountain travel is highly discouraged!

nice satellite loop at the source

This storm will bring the total season snow to near or over 700" near Donner Pass- likely also will close many of the passes yet again. When storm gets to Utah, the Alta season snow will likely go over 800"- fortunately, since it is a cold system, flooding concerns are minimal for now

#5  I-80 closed about about 7500' as of an hour ago.

I think this is the 7th or 8th time this winter that it was closed.

#4   If after that the water gets wasted in the ocean, oh well.

Why are they letting water run into the ocean when the entire planet is threatened by rising sea levels?

#3  Glenmore, the important thing is that the water reach the snail darter or whatever endangered creature they are protecting. If after that the water gets wasted in the ocean, oh well.

#2  Too bad they don’t have dams and reservoirs to capture all this moisture and potential (solar) energy…

Description
...WINTER STORM BRINGS STRONGER WINDS WITH RAIN AND SNOW TODAY, COLD AND SHOWERY WEDNESDAY... Gusty south to southwest winds will precede and accompany the main cold front today. Widespread wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph in valley locations with gusts exceeding 60 mph in wind prone areas (my backyard) will likely bring difficulties for high profile vehicles, aviation and boating activities.
