Trans Women Have a Hard Time Getting Screened for Cervical Cancer
2023-03-15
[CanadianCancerSociety] It can be difficult to make cancer screening a priority, especially when there's not a lot of information out there about cervical cancer risks for trans women. You may also be concerned about things like experiencing transphobia during the screening process.

Still it's important to take care of your health by getting the cancer screening you need.
How can someone get cervical cancer without having a cervix?
Any living tissue can develop cancer. And cancer from another tissue in the body can metastasize anywhere in the body. So the fake cervix can become cancerous — just not with cervical cancer — and because it is hidden from the patient, getting a doctor to check that everything is as it should be is simply good hygiene. Calling it cervical cancer, though, is straightforward catering to dysphoria.

#10  Absolutely nobody does doggerel like Rantburgers. Like q breath of fresh air in a world entirely too full of pompous English majors (as opposed to Rantburg’s English majors, who are, of course, a delight).

#8  The Emperor's new doctor: "Oh dear,
I fear there's no cervix up here!"
"Did you not go to school,
You transphobical fool?
'Tis of course to be found in me rear,
To me royal besoiled head very near!
Simply follow the resonant roar of my voice,"
They sputtered.

#7  Ok wait.... Are we talking about men pretending to be women? Or women pretending to be men? Me thinks its a conspiracy in the insurance community to refuse service to confused people. Maybe they need to get a referral by a trans shrink to truly determine need.

#6  It is important for trans women to get screened for cervical cancer just like real women, because if we admit there is any difference between trans (meaning fake) women and real women, then the whole charade starts to fall apart.

#4  My guess is that if you can pretend to have a menstrual cycle, you can pretend to have a cervix?
