| [NPASyria] Despite strong protections under the current Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), the Christian community in northeast Syria may have been irrevocably damaged, argues a new report by Syrians for Truth and Justice (STJ). While Christians in areas largely unaffected by war, such as Qamishli and Derik (al-Malikiyah), continue to thrive, cities which came under the control of Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more.
