I-5 North of LA closed due to snow
2023-02-24
[Twitter] @CHPFortTejon
Due to the roadway being unsafe for the motoring public, the north and southbound I-5 is closed. We are working with closely with Caltrans District 7 to reopen the Grapevine as quickly as possible
as of about 2am PST on 24 Feb.
More snow is expected and elevation of pass is about 4000' so it may be a problem for much of today and tomorrow.

#13  Tahoe is getting heavy snow, I-80 is closed at multiple locations, US 50 is open for chained and 4x4 with snow tires, but very slow and being escorted from Myers and again into Stateline. My front yard (Elevation 4953) has 6 inches and growing and the Sierra Nevadas behind Tahoe are shrouded in clouds down to about 6000 ft and are getting massive snowfall. Just did a WallyWorld run for Class I and Class III, so tucked in for the weekend. However, as an annoyance, apparently the Cackle-Jackle had the moronic claim about reduced energy costs. My SouthWest Gas natural bill, just for gas in January, was $517, down three bucks from the December bill of $520. Last year was $283 ans 247 respectively. Is there anything they don't lie about?

#12  We got about 4-5 inches, a nice snow day for the kids.

#11  I could have added some of the other road closures. There are many, including other Caltrans maintained highways, as well as many in other States.

But I-5 is so critical to commerce and closes so infrequently that I went for that one.
