| #2 A contemporary review of this 1935 film states “Unsuitable for children, adolescents, or Sundays.” You be the judge. Miss Ames, an extraordinary stunner from Hollywood’s “Golden Age,” plays “Kay Parrish,” a rich heiress. Unexpectedly in need of work, she contacts a helpful New York acquaintance “Terrence Gallagher” (Ralph Bellamy)—gruff owner of a struggling speakeasy called the “Hee Haw Club”—and hires on as a female version of a gigolo (hence the unusual movie title). The review aforementioned fusses “Although it is established that Adrienne disliked the work, one cannot help feeling displeased when she engages in such work.” Viewers today may find more to deplore in her dipsomaniac romantic choice. Regardless, the film highlights the value of friendship and trust and Adrienne is a knockout.
