[REGNUM] Russian Foreign Ministry asked Washington not to undertake "malicious provocations"
In the Department of North America, the Russian Foreign Ministry is asking Washington not to bring the situation to a direct clash between the United States and Russia. The threat of such a development of events was stated by the director of the diplomatic structure Alexander Darchiev in an interview with TASS.
“We can only hope that Washington will listen to the voice of reason and will not bring matters to a direct clash between Russia and the United States,” he said.
According to Alexander Darchiev, if Washington does not have enough wisdom, then this may be fraught with a rupture of diplomatic relations between Russia and the United States "with all the ensuing consequences."
He also believes that initially Washington was the initiator of the destruction of relations between the countries, which brought the situation to the point of no return, and now blamed Moscow for this. Nevertheless, Russia has no intention of deliberately cutting off contact with the United States unless there are " malicious provocations " that leave no choice.
As REGNUM reported, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky said during his visit to Washington that he was not ready to make compromises for the sake of making peace with Russia. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called his proposals on this issue a good start and stressed that the position of the Russian Federation is preventing reaching agreements. The initiatives of the Ukrainian leader are already being discussed by the United States with other countries around the world, Blinken explained.
