1. This is a process of further disintegration of the French neo-colonial empire, which the Russian Federation contributes to the best of its ability. The case when the rhetoric of the Russian authorities about decolonization quite coincides with practice. Former French colonies, one by one, are sailing away from Macron.
2. After the Central African Republic and Mali, Burkina Faso has long been asking for a way out of the French sphere of influence. It is no coincidence that France has sharply attended to the strengthening of its positions in Niger, Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire.
3. After Burkina Faso, the turn of Côte d'Ivoire and Niger will come. The first is the possibility of access to the Atlantic Ocean (by the way, China is considering the possibility of creating a full-fledged naval base on the territory of neighboring Guinea, which greatly worries Washington). Well, Niger, first of all, uranium mines are of great importance for the French nuclear program.
4. It is important to note that Russia spends very modest resources on all these activities in West Africa, while at the same time acquiring various strategic benefits, along the way weakening one of the major US satellites, which is losing in a matter of months the influence it had in this region for decades .
5. Therefore, these operations in West Africa certainly need to be continued (if necessary, in cooperation with the Chinese), but of course not to the detriment of the NVO in Ukraine and other theaters of operations.
