Recall that on December 15, the deputies of the European Parliament during the plenary session in Strasbourg by a majority of votes adopted a resolution recognizing the "Holodomor" in Ukraine in 1932-1933 as genocide. MEPs in their document condemned the actions of the Soviet authorities, through whose fault in Ukraine, in their opinion, there was a "Holodomor."
The statement of the Russian diplomatic mission says that this resolution "indicates ignorance of history or a deliberate gross distortion of historical facts." As noted in the document, in those years, famine raged everywhere in the USSR, not only Ukrainians, but also other peoples died from it, so it’s at least stupid to talk about a special “holodomor” arranged on a national basis.
“No one denies that in the 1930s there really was a famine in a significant part of the territory of the USSR. The victims of that tragedy, the causes of which scientists call drought and forced collectivization, were Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Kazakhs and representatives of other peoples who inhabited the USSR.
To say that the famine was organized, and even on a national basis, is not just stupidity, but also an insult to the memory of the dead,” the Russian diplomatic mission said.
