Has Putin forced Belarus to enter Ukraine war? Lukashenko's military vehicles have red square 'war signs' painted on, mimicking Russia's 'Z' symbols
2022-12-15
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Belarus knows which side of its bread is buttered. I can't imagine force has anything to do with it.
  • Belarus ordered snap 'combat readiness' checks on its armed forces this week

  • Armoured vehicles since spotted with 'war markings' to help drivers distinguish friend from foe in actual combat – similar to Russian 'Z' symbol

  • Fears are growing Belarus could soon join war in Ukraine to help ally Putin

#4  Always thought the Z thing was a strange affectation for the Russians, who seem to have no sense of history, recent or otherwise:

During this time, the letter Z (meaning "He is alive") became a common piece of protest graffiti in Greek cities, in memory of Lambrakis and his democratic ideals. The military junta banned the use of the letter "Z" as graffiti, in response to these protests.

#3  #2 Russia did that feint on Kiev...

A real goodwill gesture, that. The cope is strong with this one.

#2  Back in Feb/March - Russia did that feint on Kiev, meanwhile Belarus was playing their part of the theatrics performing drills and such, which forces UKR to commit to border forces. More of the same. I dont think Belarus wants to get mixed up with Nato.

Fears... right. They are there, in support roles deep in the rear in Donbas. This has already been confirmed by multiple sources.

As for military might... not so much. Belarus has an even worse military than the Russians and Ukraine keeps a good chunk of their forces they rotate out of the front for a break on the border there. They are well motivated, trained, armed and most importantly are veterans. Lukashenko needs his military and police forces in Belarus to keep him in power. Blustering on the border works to keep Ukrainian forces there, but marching Belarus soldiers into Ukraine to get slaughtered will get Lukashenko out of power very quickly and he knows it.
