2022-11-20
[Rudaw] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) fighters attacked the Iraqi army in the disputed province of Kirkuk on Saturday, killing four soldiers, a local official said.

Amir Nuri, spokesperson for Kirkuk police, told Rudaw on Saturday that a group of ISIS fighters attacked the Iraqi army in Qara Hanjir subdistrict. As a result, four soldiers were killed.

The area is located on the Iraqi government’s borders with the Kurdistan Region.

A search and inspection operation has been launched by the army to arrest the ISIS fighters.

Iraqi Security Media Cell said on Friday that the security forces in a number of Iraqi northern provinces, including Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
arrested 15 ISIS fighters "based on accurate intelligence information."

Iraq on Thursday launched a fresh phase of an ongoing operation ISIS remnants in the northern province of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
The operation, dubbed "Solid Will," is an extension of an expansive effort by the Iraqi army, the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF, or Hashd al-Shaabi in Arabic), and Kurdish Peshmerga forces seeking to eliminate the presence of ISIS from the country.

ISIS kills three Iraqi soldiers in Kirkuk

On Saturday, ISIS members targeted the Iraqi forces in al-Dibs District, northwest of Kirkuk Governorate.

A security source told Shafaq News Agency that the attack resulted in the death of three Iraqi soldiers, which prompted the Joint Operations Commander/Kirkuk Lt. Gen. Ali al-Freiji, to conduct an inspection operation to find the attackers.

Recently, the terrorist organization has become more active, as sleeper cells target civilians and security forces, especially in Kirkuk, Saladin, and Diyala governorates, known as "the Triangle of Death."
